this month at the manor

iris reticulata. a well -known dwarf variate grows 7.5-15cm tall blooms February or march and is scented.

we are greasing the trunks of the horse chestnuts to try and deter this dreadful moth which is spoiling the foliage on these beautiful trees.we have removed as many leave as possible(this is where the moth overwinters)any moths which hatch,s will be sprayed with an insecticide any that get through that will be stopped by the grease.it is a bit of a long shot but watch this space for results.

snow drops on mass.

James lifting snow drops , this is the best way to plant snowdrops, its called planting in the green.blue bells can be planted in the same way.
